Druskininkai Jewish Old Cemetery (Baravykų street)

The cemetery was built in the second half of the 19th century. It was active until June 1941. The cemetery was used for burials of the Jewish community of Druskininkai. Rachel, the mother of the famous sculptor Žakas Lipšics, is buried here. The defunct cemetery was bulldozed to the ground in 1967 and the tombstones were used for the construction of the Druskininkai resort.

The cemetery was cleaned up as part of the concern for the Jewish cultural heritage. A memorial plaque with inscriptions in Hebrew and Lithuanian, indicating that there was an old Jewish cemetery here. Three surviving tombstones were erected nearby.
