Already in the 19th century, the resort attracted people from the art world of St. Petersburg, Warsaw, and Vilnius. Eliza Ožeškienė drew inspiration for her short stories here, Napoleon Orda for his architectural landscapes, and Stanisław Moniuška for his romantic works. The world-famous cubist Jacques Lipchitz and Hollywood actor Charles Bronson came from Druskininkai. While living in Druskininkai, the young M. K. Čiurlionis painted one of his most poetic series – “Žvaigždžių Sonata”. Discover the historical heritage and contemporary art of Druskininkai in our museums and educational programs.
