A commemorative bench for Ignacijus Fonbergas
Ignacijus Fonbergas never lived in Druskininkai, but his work remains of particular significance to the history and development of our spa town even today. The scientist’s research into Druskininkai’s mineral waters provided a major impetus for the development of spa treatment in Druskininkai. It was on I. Fonberg’s initiative that the plans for the Druskininkai Sanatorium were drawn up. That is precisely why a commemorative bench has been erected in Gydyklų Park, near the mineral water pump room.
