Druskininkai Old Cemetery

Although now defunct, the old town cemetery on the southern shore of Lake Druskonys still retains its unique and mysterious 19th century aura. Catholics were buried on one side of the old cemetery and the Orthodox of the town on the other. In the central part of the cemetery, you can also find the graves of the local Protestant converts. On the Catholic side is a neo-gothic chapel built by the wealthy Kiersnovskis, which is no longer in use, and on the Orthodox side of the cemetery is the Church of St. On the side of the Church of St. Gabriel and the crypt of the Erbstein-Julian family. In 1878, Dr Jonas Pileckis, the populariser of the resort, was buried here, as well as the parents of the famous M. K. Čiurlionis, Konstantinas and Adelė.
