Wooden architecture in Druskininkai

The wooden architectural heritage of Druskininkai is characterised by the features of the resort architecture of the late 19th – early 20th century in Europe, as well as by distinctive ethnic building traditions. Two thirds of the wooden buildings were destroyed during the Soviet era and can only be seen in photographs; however, the town has preserved some fine villas and a wooden Orthodox church built in 1865.
