Druskininkai is the southernmost town in Lithuania. The population within the city limits is 12,441 inhabitants, and 22,311 inhabitants live in the entire municipality (according to the 2018 census). 454 km².
Druskininkai is easily accessible by car. Vilnius and Kaunas are only 120 km away, while Riga, the capital of Latvia, is about 330 km away. The city centre is only 9 km from the border with Belarus and 60 km from the border with Poland. The nearest major Belarusian city is Grodno, about 45 km away, and the nearest Polish city is Augustow, about 100 km away.
It is also easy to reach the capital cities of neighbouring countries a little further afield by car: it would take about 4 hours to get to Warsaw (about 350 km), and about the same to get to Minsk or Kaliningrad (about 300 km), not counting the time needed to cross the border.
Arriving from Vilnius or Kaunas Airports, Druskininkai can be reached in just two hours by bus, taxi or by making arrangements with the reception in Druskininkai.
