The renovated comfort clinic of Eglė Sanatorium opens in Druskininkai

2026.01.22

The renovated comfort spa of Eglė Sanatorium has been officially opened in Druskininkai – the first major step in a large-scale reconstruction project. The largest sanatorium in Northern Europe, combining two sanatoriums and 11 rehabilitation centres in Lithuania, is embarking on a new phase in the quality of its wellness services, combining medical innovations, modern infrastructure and customer comfort.

The symbolic opening ribbon was cut by Artūras Salda, CEO of Eglė Sanatorium, and Vilma Jurgelevičienė, Director of Druskininkai Municipality Administration. During the opening ceremony, the Director of the Municipality Administration congratulated the community of the sanatorium on the important stage of development, welcomed the consistent investments in the health infrastructure, the high level of services provided and stressed that projects of this scale strengthen Druskininkai’s position as a health resort, both nationally and internationally.

The renovated comfort spa and the new SPA centre, which covers an area of 1484 square metres, can provide treatments for up to 140 clients at a time. Next door is the newly equipped café “Žalias sodas” with a concert space, library and conference room. More than €3 million have been invested in the first phase of the renovation.

“All our investments are made with our customers in mind, who choose us as a place to regain, maintain and improve their health. The spa has consistently invested in a relaxation and wellness experience that meets modern expectations. Comfort, modernity and treatment options must go hand in hand. The renovation not only beautifies the space, but also expands the concept of spa treatment itself – it should be a place where not only the body is strengthened, but also the inner well-being,” says Artūras Salda, Head of the Eglė Sanatorium.

The modern comfort spa, decorated in natural colours, is also distinguished by its range of treatments. The renovated spaces offer treatments that are unique in Lithuania: a Sun Room, an indoor Kneipp path for the feet and a Kneipp bath for the hands – the latter in a winter garden surrounded by plants.

The treatment rooms also offer mineral water mist therapy, binaural and audio-visual relaxation, oxygen therapy, aromatherapy, fangoparaffin applications and dry carbonic acid baths. There are two halotherapy rooms, physiotherapy rooms, individual and group physiotherapy. The clinic also has a spa centre, offering facial and body treatments with high-quality cosmetics.

The recreational infrastructure is complemented by the renovated space of the Žalias sodas café, where concerts and live music are planned for the evenings. One of the two stages has a piano and the other will host events. The renovated space also includes an impressive library and conference room.

The renovation of the sanatorium continues with the renovation of the living quarters. 247 modern rooms will be added to the 13,000 square metres of space, accommodating 424 guests. All rooms will have glass windows with balconies and six suites will have spacious terraces. Room types will range from singles and doubles to family rooms and suites. All of them will have a four-star comfort level, and there will be specially adapted rooms for people with disabilities.

Currently, around 1 200 employees work at Eglė Sanatorium and Eglė Rehabilitation Centres. The renovated comfort spa and spa centre alone employs around 20 specialists, and the expansion is planned to add around 180 more employees in Lithuania.

The renovation project was designed by the architectural studio Unitectus, implemented by Taem Group, and the interior was designed by architect Artūras Imbrasas. The reconstruction is scheduled for completion in August 2026.
