Helium balloon will lift people from Druskininkai bus station
Construction of a new bus station in Druskininkai is underway. It is being built on the site of the old bus station, but will become another unique landmark not only in the resort, but also in Lithuania. The new station will have cosy cafés, small shops and a modern waiting area.

“We refined the idea – we came up with the idea that the balloon would rise from inside the building, and the companies agreed to implement it. There is no analogue in the world,” – Druskininkai Mayor Ričardas Malinauskas said.
The Druskininkai bus station project (designed by architect Gintaras Balčytis) was presented at last year’s Venice Architecture Biennale and received a lot of attention.
The Druskininkai bus station is being built by Kautra and is expected to be completed this autumn.
