Priceless moments of togetherness are born in family-friendly Druskininkai

2025.06.19
Although Druskininkai is deservedly called the oldest resort in Lithuania, its heart never stops beating at a frenetic pace. It’s no wonder that young steps are not lost in this ever-vibrant town open to innovation – every year, Druskininkai is visited by a large number of families who can enjoy not only the refuge of beautiful nature, a wide range of health and recreation services, but also immerse themselves in a sea of varied activities.

You can be calm about your offspring

The fact that Druskininkai is the friendliest destination in Lithuania when travelling with children is also confirmed by a recent survey of local tourism carried out by the national tourism promotion agency “Travel Lithuania”. According to the survey, the resort is rated as the most family-friendly city with something new to offer families with children.

This summer, Druskininkai has introduced a new feature that is particularly relevant for families – a babysitting service. So if adults want to enjoy spa and wellness treatments or need to work during their holidays, their offspring can be taken care of by professionals in their field – together with nannies, children will spend their time not only safely, but also richly.

This service is available from Monday to Friday at the amusement park “O kas čia?” and costs between €10 and €18, depending on the choices. Pre-registration is recommended.

And what to do for the whole family together – no questions asked in Druskininkai!

From summer to winter and back

Many people already know that the resort’s famous water park is the perfect leisure destination for both parents and children. This realm of entertainment is always full of fun experiences.

The youngest members of the family will be enticed by the children’s steam bath, the slides, the swimming pool with water with a mineral content close to that of the Baltic Sea and even the foot-tickling sand. Other Druskininkai sanatoriums and health and recreation complexes also have pools and water parks suitable for little visitors.

Meanwhile, those who miss the pleasures of winter can move straight into the cold season. The Snow Arena complex can be reached directly from the water park via the Druskininkai airline – the “Rope Road”. It is a unique eco-friendly vehicle that flies over the pine peaks of Druskininkai and invites you to enjoy the stunning landscape from a bird’s eye view.

Just to remind you that Snow Arena offers a variety of winter activities for both the youngest and the oldest members of the family, and the Snow Kart Karting Centre offers a fun karting experience for the little ones.

See, experience and explore

Druskininkai also offers plenty of other activities that will keep children and adults of all ages and interests busy.

For the little ones, the resort offers the family amusement park “What’s up?” From the White Canyon and Pirate Island to climbing and the Oasis of Tranquillity, there’s something for everyone.

Those who want to learn something new are always welcome at the Forest Museum “Echo of the Forest”. It is a great place not only to get to know the birds, insects, animals and nature of Dzūkija, but also to try interactive games. The museum organises exhibitions of ceramics, amber works, carving and other exhibitions.

Another temple of knowledge and curiosities, the Druskininkai City Museum and Gallery, invites the whole family to see the resort’s unique history in a live exhibition. A group of just 5 people can also take part in rich educational activities. And if you visit the museum in Villa Linksma, you should climb up to the building’s tower for a breathtaking panorama of Druskininkai.

Childhood in the trees

Take part in creative and educational activities, admire the exhibitions of artists’ works and buy original artworks: all this is offered to the guests of the resort’s versatile creative space – the craft centre “Arts Forge”.

Another fun educational experience awaits visitors at the creative house “Druskos studija”. Here, children will learn about the history of the town, taste the special salt of Druskininkai, make salt sculptures and make their own souvenir.

And did you know that there is even a place where you can walk on the ceiling? So if you want to see what the world looks like upside down, it’s time to visit the Druskininkai Upside Down House.

Meanwhile, those who like active recreation are welcome at the Uno Adventure Park, where tree climbing invites the whole family to overcome smart obstacles and their fears, and to enjoy the thrill of a spicy experience.

Unforgettable experiences await children at the various summer camps organised in the resort, where campers will not miss out on exciting physical activities, rich entertainment or creative flair.

Routes for new discoveries

Of course, one of the most popular ways to get to know Druskininkai with the whole family is to take a tour of the city. The Druskininkai Sightseeing Train invites you on a fun-filled sightseeing tour that takes you to some of the resort’s most amazing places. Meanwhile, fans of leisurely strolls will be delighted by the special experience map, whose route is designed to make sure that even the littlest travellers’ little legs don’t get tired.

The resort, rich in parks, is not only a refreshment for pedestrians. More than 60 km of cycle paths in and around Druskininkai invite you to admire the natural scenery and explore the sights, whether pedalling or scootering.

Along the way, K. Dineika Wellness Park and Vijūnėlė Park offer playgrounds, swings, slides, trampolines and other activities. There are also beach volleyball and basketball courts and table tennis tables.

Bicycles or a bicycle for the whole family can be rented at one of the many rental points. So all you have to do is choose the best route and set off on a journey of immersive discovery and experience.
