Dog lovers will be gathering in Druskininkai once again

2026.07.29

The Lithuanian Kennel Club will be organising three international dog shows at Druskininkai Aerodrome (59 Mizarų Street) from 7 to 9 August. International judges from Luxembourg, Finland, Ireland, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia, Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will be assessing nearly 1,500 dogs each day. This figure reflects not only the wide variety of dog breeds but also the opportunity for visiting dog breeders to share their experiences and achievements, and to forge new connections.

According to dog lovers, dog shows are not just ‘about titles and prizes’, but also about the dogs’ sociability, abilities and beauty. They reveal the potential of dogs and demonstrate just how important pets are to people.

International dog shows are a reflection of the country’s cynological culture and an important educational event. Therefore, anyone wishing to learn more about responsible dog selection, welfare, care and training is invited not only to walk around the show as a spectator, but also to get involved in the activities on offer. Visitors to the LKD Training Centre’s ‘campsite’ (in the education MC tent, opening at 12.00 on Friday, and from 10.00 am on other days), you’ll be able to take part in creative workshops, join a guided tour of the show, and get advice on dogs.

Saturday will be a special day, as the international dog show ‘Baltic Champion’ takes place in Lithuania only once every three years, whilst Sunday’s show is significant for our national dog breed – the Lithuanian Hound – with more than 100 of them set to gather! This is an impressive number of participants, ahead of the International Cynological Federation’s official recognition of the Lithuanian Hound and its inclusion on the list of provisionally recognised dog breeds. Let’s come along to admire the Lithuanian Hounds and support their breeders.

See you there! The show will begin at 12.00 on Friday, 10.00 on Saturday and 9.00 on Sunday; admission is free. For more information: fb.me/e/6KPftdabr
