The night will belong to the runners: an exceptional event in Druskininkai on 8 August

2026.08.03

The ‘Druskininkai Night Run’ is set to take place on 8 August, inviting all lovers of active leisure to come together for one of the most beautiful summer sporting events in Lithuania. Light shows, music, a summer evening and a run under the stars – this is exactly the atmosphere that awaits participants in Druskininkai.

Participants will be able to choose between 12 km and 4 km routes, whilst a 1.2 km route will be available for younger runners and those not yet ready for major challenges. At the finish line, everyone who successfully completes their chosen route will receive a commemorative medal.

The picturesque running route will wind its way around the Vijūnėlė and Druskonis reservoirs, and in the evening, Druskininkai, illuminated by the lights, will reveal itself to participants from a completely different angle. The route will feature not only sporting challenges but also entertainment in the form of lights, smoke, lasers and music stations, which will create a unique atmosphere for the night-time run.

“It’s really heartening that there are more and more events in Druskininkai encouraging people to get moving and stay active. I enjoy a run myself, so I know full well just how much motivation community runs and the chance to exercise in beautiful surroundings provide. Forest trails, refurbished cycle paths and active leisure are an integral part of Druskininkai as a health resort. “Events like this not only attract visitors, but also encourage the residents of Druskininkai themselves to go for a run, a walk or spend their free time actively more often,” said Simonas Kazakevičius, Deputy Mayor of Druskininkai Municipality.

Among the participants will be the first member of the Dzūkija Riflemen’s Corps to have completed the civil resistance instructor course organised by the Lithuanian Military Academy, Ramūnas Šerpatauskas, commander of the 103rd Giedrius Matulionis Riflemen’s Company in Druskininkai. Also lining up at the starting line will be Eglė Stankūnė, a dietitian, trainer and event organiser.

The organisers hope that even more people will join this sporting festival, especially as participants’ feedback following last year’s event has been extremely positive.

The event will begin on 8 August at 8.18 pm with an energetic Zumba warm-up. At 8.25 pm, the 1.2 km runners will set off. Later, at 8.45 pm, there will be another group warm-up, and at 8.50 pm the 4 km and 12 km runners will set off.

The Druskininkai Night Run is not just a sporting event, but also an opportunity to enjoy a summer evening in one of Lithuania’s most beautiful resorts. The organisers invite everyone – from beginners to experienced runners – to choose their distance, immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of a night run, and add another finishers’ medal to their collection on 8 August.
