Foreign tourists can come to Lithuania more easily

We are pleased to announce that there are no longer any restrictions for citizens of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). Third-country residents must meet the criteria for vaccination valid in Lithuania or have a negative PCR test with them.

As of 15 February, there are no longer any restrictions not only for EU citizens but also residents belonging to the EEA. In addition, the entry restrictions for citizens of countries that have joined the EU’s Digital COVID certificate system, have been lifted. After the changes come into force, those coming to Lithuania from EU countries and EEA countries will no longer need to be tested for COVID-19 even if the person has not been vaccinated or never had COVID-19.

Lithuania is also opening up for Russian citizens. Lithuanian Visa Application Centers are starting to accept applications for issuing Schengen visas for all purposes of travel for citizens of Russia. From the beginning of March 31, 2022, citizens can enter Lithuania with a valid Schengen visa. Upon arrival you must either present a negative PCR test (made no more than 72 hours before arrival in Lithuania) or a certificate of vaccination with a vaccine recognized in Lithuania. When submitting documents, the Applicant must confirm that entry into Lithuania will be no earlier than March 31, 2022, regardless of the purpose of the trip. Arrivals from third countries who do not meet the criteria for vaccination and re-illness in force in Lithuania, will have to get a negative PCR test, no more than 72 hours before the trip and present the negative test to the  carrier before boarding the plane, bus, ferry or other vehicle. Travelers can bring a negative PCR test result by their own transport, as well as perform a PCR test or antigen test upon arrival in Lithuania.

Restrictions for citizens of all other third countries and residents of those countries is still valid until 31 March, but exemptions will continue to apply to persons vaccinated with vaccines recognized in Lithuania. Travelers arriving in Lithuania from third countries must have been vaccinated with one of the following approved vaccines: COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen, Comirnaty, Spikevax, Vaxzevria, Nuvaxovid, Covishield.
